Product Overview
Terrazo Gris® Arterra® Series 24" x 24" x 2cm Matte Porcelain Outdoor & Indoor Paver brings retro-modern terrazzo glamour, cool industrial-gray tones, and commercial-grade structural performance to seamless indoor-outdoor architectural spaces. Part of MSI's Arterra® Premium Paver Collection, this solid 20mm (2cm) porcelain paver is specifically engineered for heavy-duty outdoor hardscaping, high-traffic commercial plazas, and elevated pedestal deck installations.
The Terrazo Gris® colorway interprets classic Italian terrazzo stone with a neutral mid-gray field speckled with subtle, multi-tonal aggregate chips in white, light gray, and dark charcoal. Finished with a non-glare, anti-slip matte texture and precision rectified edges, it provides exceptional underfoot traction, stays comfortable under direct sunlight, and completely eliminates the heavy sealing and staining issues associated with poured cement terrazzo.

Installation and Handling Guidelines
⚠️ IMPORTANT: 2CM EXTERIOR PORCELAIN INSTALLATION PROTOCOL
-
Dry Laying on Sand, Gravel, or Grass: 2cm pavers can be set directly onto compacted crushed stone, sand beds, or garden lawns for fast, mortar-free stepping stone pathways and casual patios.
-
Mortar Setting on Concrete Slabs: For heavy traffic, vehicular driveways, or pool decks, set pavers using a polymer-modified Large & Heavy Tile (LFT) thin-set mortar (ANSI A118.4 / ANSI A118.15) over a level concrete base. Back-butter each paver for 100% coverage.
-
Elevated Pedestal Systems: Suitable for dry-laying on adjustable pedestal supports for rooftop decks, allowing hidden utility routing and easy water drainage underneath.
-
Rectified Joints: Precision rectified edges allow for clean, narrow joint spacing when mortared or uniform spacer gaps when dry-set on pedestals/gravel.
Care and Maintenance
-
Routine Cleaning: Hose down, sweep, or pressure wash periodically using water and a mild outdoor detergent.
-
Zero Sealing Required: Unlike natural stone or traditional cementitious terrazzo, glazed 2cm porcelain repels liquids, barbecue grease, wine, and oil without needing sealers.
-
Stain & Freeze-Thaw Resistance: Non-porous body prevents algae growth, moss buildup, salt crystallization damage, and winter freeze-thaw spalling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Terrazo Gris® 2cm pavers be installed directly on grass or gravel?
Yes! One of the biggest advantages of 2cm structural porcelain is its ability to be dry-set on compacted sand, gravel, or grass without needing concrete or mortar.
Is 2cm porcelain cooler underfoot than dark natural stone?
Yes. Porcelain pavers naturally absorb less solar thermal energy than dark slate, bluestone, or concrete, keeping patio floors significantly cooler for barefoot walking.
Do Terrazo Gris® Arterra® pavers require sealing?
No. Arterra® 2cm porcelain is completely non-porous ($\le 0.5\%$ water absorption) and will never require sealers or ongoing chemical polishing.
