Product Overview

Ming Green 6" x 12" Marble Tile introduces soft botanical color and expressive natural movement to bathrooms, showers, backsplashes, floors, and decorative walls. Quarried in China, Ming Green marble is recognized for its soothing blend of mint, seafoam, pale emerald, and silvery green tones, accompanied by flowing white veins and occasional deeper mineral markings.

The elongated 6" × 12" field-tile format supports numerous layouts, including running bond, vertical stack, horizontal stack, and herringbone. Available in polished and honed finishes, Ming Green can deliver either a glossy, light-reflective appearance or a softer, low-sheen surface.

Each tile is cut from genuine natural marble. Differences in color, veining, crystal structure, and mineral markings are expected, ensuring that every finished installation has an individual character.

Finish Options

Polished

The polished finish creates a glossy, light-reflective surface that intensifies Ming Green’s translucent color and flowing veining. It is particularly effective on backsplashes, vanity walls, shower walls, fireplace surrounds, and decorative features.

Polished marble may become slippery when wet and should not be specified for shower floors or other wet walking surfaces without professional approval.

Honed

The honed finish provides a smooth, low-sheen appearance with softer color and reduced reflection. It is suitable for walls and approved interior floors and is generally the preferred option when a quieter, contemporary stone surface is desired.

No published DCOF rating is available. Wet-floor suitability must still be evaluated for the specific installation.

Recommended Applications

  • Bathroom Floors: The honed finish creates a calm, spa-like surface for appropriately designed interior bathroom floors.

  • Shower Walls: Ming Green’s botanical coloring provides an elegant natural-stone backdrop for showers and wet rooms.

  • Approved Shower Floors: The honed finish may be considered when the tile, joint layout, slope, waterproofing, and slip requirements are approved by the installer.

  • Kitchen Backsplashes: Introduces soft color and organic veining behind countertops, sinks, and ranges.

  • Vanity and Powder-Room Walls: The polished finish reflects light, while the honed finish creates a more understated appearance.

  • Interior Feature Walls: Suitable for niches, wainscoting, reception walls, boutique interiors, and decorative panels.

  • Fireplace Surrounds: May be installed over an appropriate noncombustible substrate while observing fireplace-manufacturer clearances.

  • Interior Residential and Appropriate Commercial Floors: Confirm traffic level, finish, maintenance requirements, and slip resistance before specification.

Ming Green is not recommended for exterior paving in freeze-thaw environments.

Installation & Handling Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: LIGHT-COLORED NATURAL MARBLE

Ming Green can be sensitive to moisture, staining, mortar color, and installation products. Test the complete setting and sealing system before beginning the project.

  • Use White Mortar: Install with a premium white polymer-modified mortar approved for natural marble. Gray mortar may darken or shadow through lighter areas of the stone.

  • Dry-Lay and Blend: Open several cartons and arrange the tiles before installation. Distribute lighter, darker, quieter, and more heavily veined pieces throughout the surface.

  • Inspect Before Setting: Examine every tile while dry and under the project’s lighting. Do not install material with unacceptable damage or characteristics.

  • Substrate Preparation: The substrate must be clean, flat, stable, and properly prepared for natural-stone tile.

  • Mortar Coverage: Directionally trowel the mortar and back-butter tiles where necessary. Obtain at least 80% coverage in dry interior areas and 95% in wet locations.

  • Pre-Sealing: Apply a penetrating sealer approved for marble before grouting when required. Test first to ensure it does not alter the stone’s color or finish.

  • Grout Selection: Use unsanded grout or a fine-aggregate grout confirmed as safe for polished marble. Test the grout on spare material to check for scratching and discoloration.

  • Grout Joint: Determine the joint width from the actual tile dimensions, edge condition, substrate, and installer recommendations. A narrow joint should only be used when the material is sufficiently calibrated.

  • Wet Areas: Install over a complete waterproofing system. Sealing the marble does not waterproof the shower assembly.

  • Movement Accommodation: Include perimeter, change-of-plane, and field movement joints following TCNA EJ171 and applicable construction requirements.

  • Cutting Safety: Wet-cut with a clean continuous-rim diamond blade designed for marble. Do not dry-cut or grind because fabrication can release respirable crystalline-silica dust.

  • Order Allowance: Add approximately 10–15% for cuts, breakage, color selection, layout requirements, and future repairs. Herringbone patterns may require additional material.

Care & Maintenance

  • Clean with warm water and a neutral-pH cleaner formulated for natural marble.

  • Avoid vinegar, lemon, bleach, acidic bathroom cleaners, abrasive powders, and harsh grout cleaners.

  • Wipe up cosmetics, oils, wine, coffee, citrus, and strongly pigmented liquids promptly.

  • Use soft cloths, microfiber pads, or non-abrasive brushes.

  • Reapply a penetrating natural-stone sealer according to exposure and the sealer manufacturer’s recommendations.

  • Expect polished marble to develop a natural patina in frequently used areas.

  • Use mats or protective pads in entryways and beneath furniture installed over marble floors.

Design Profile

  • Aesthetic Inspiration: Biophilic luxury, botanical Art Deco, organic contemporary, traditional spa, and refined eclectic.

  • Color Character: Mint, seafoam, pale emerald, silvery green, and soft white.

  • Visual Advantage: Natural veining creates fluid movement without overwhelming the room.

  • Layout Options: Running bond, stacked horizontal, stacked vertical, one-third offset, and herringbone.

  • Complementary Stones: Thassos White, Bianco Dolomite, Carrara White, Calacatta Gold, and Nero Marquina.

  • Complementary Materials: White oak, walnut, creamy quartz, clear glass, and warm plaster.

  • Complementary Metals: Unlacquered brass, champagne bronze, polished nickel, chrome, and matte black.

  • Suggested Grout Colors: Soft white creates gentle contrast; pale gray defines the layout; muted green produces a more unified surface.
