Product Overview

MSI Arctic White 6" x 24" Splitface Marble Ledger Panel Wall Tile brings crisp white color, dimensional natural texture, and contemporary stone character to interior and exterior walls. Part of MSI’s RockMount® Stacked Stone Collection, each panel is assembled from genuine white marble strips with a naturally cleft splitface surface.

The Arctic White colorway features cool snow-white tones, subtle crystalline detail, and restrained natural variation. Directional lighting emphasizes the uneven stone relief, producing an architectural pattern of light and shadow across fireplaces, accent walls, backsplashes, columns, façades, and outdoor living features.

Each nominal 6" x 24" panel covers approximately one square foot. Interlocking ends allow neighboring panels to fit closely together, minimizing visible vertical seams and creating an authentic grout-free stacked-stone appearance. MSI confirms that this product is splitface marble rated for residential and commercial interior and exterior wall applications. MSI Surfaces

Recommended Applications

  • Fireplace Surrounds: Creates a bright floor-to-ceiling stone feature around residential or commercial fireplace structures.

  • Living-Room Feature Walls: Adds dimensional texture behind televisions, shelving, artwork, and architectural focal points.

  • Kitchen and Bar Backsplashes: Introduces natural white marble behind countertops, beverage stations, and entertainment areas.

  • Entryways and Reception Areas: Gives residential foyers, hotels, offices, and retail interiors a refined architectural surface.

  • Exterior Façades and Columns: Suitable for properly designed building accents, entry columns, patio walls, and other vertical exterior applications.

  • Outdoor Kitchens: Creates a natural-stone facing around approved outdoor kitchen structures when installed with exterior-rated materials.

  • Bathroom and Spa Features: Suitable for appropriate vanity backdrops and decorative walls with proper moisture management.

Installation and Handling Guidelines

Important: Heavy Natural-Stone Wall Installation

  • Confirm Structural Capacity: The wall assembly must be capable of supporting the combined weight of the marble, mortar, and substrate.

  • Use a Suitable Substrate: Install over properly prepared masonry, concrete, mortar beds, or cementitious backer board as appropriate for the application.

  • Prepare a Flat Surface: Ledger panels require a clean, rigid, plumb, and sufficiently flat substrate to prevent open joints and misaligned panels.

  • Use White Natural-Stone Mortar: Select a premium white large-and-heavy-tile mortar approved for natural marble, vertical installations, and the intended substrate.

  • Verify Mortar Compatibility: Follow the mortar manufacturer’s recommendations for natural stone, exterior exposure, fireplaces, and wet environments.

  • Back-Butter the Panels: Apply mortar to the backs of the panels as needed to achieve proper contact and complete support.

  • Maintain Tight Joints: Fit adjoining panels closely together to preserve the intended grout-free stacked-stone appearance.

  • Dry-Lay and Blend: Arrange panels from multiple cases before installation to balance natural shade, texture, and crystalline variation.

  • Use Matching Corners: Factory-produced corner panels provide a more continuous appearance around columns and outside corners.

  • Provide Movement Joints: Include movement accommodation according to applicable building and tile-industry requirements. Do not bridge existing structural joints.

  • Waterproof Exterior and Wet Areas: Provide the required drainage plane, flashing, waterproofing, and moisture-management system behind the stone.

  • Protect Horizontal Surfaces: Exterior walls and columns need properly sloped caps or flashing to keep water from entering behind the veneer.

  • Follow Fireplace Clearances: Suitable for fireplace surrounds, but not automatically approved for installation inside the firebox. Follow the fireplace manufacturer’s clearance and substrate requirements.

  • Cut Only with Wet Methods: Use a wet saw and appropriate respiratory protection. Do not dry-cut, grind, or polish products that can release respirable crystalline-silica dust.

Care and Maintenance

  • Remove dust with a soft brush, microfiber duster, or vacuum attachment.

  • Clean with warm water and a neutral-pH cleaner formulated for natural marble.

  • Avoid vinegar, acidic cleaners, bleach, abrasive chemicals, and wire brushes.

  • Do not direct high-pressure washing equipment at close range toward the stone or panel joints.

  • Apply a penetrating natural-stone sealer when appropriate for the environment and desired stain protection.

  • Inspect exterior installations periodically for failed sealant, loose pieces, open joints, or water-entry points.

Design Profile

  • Style: Modern organic, Scandinavian, contemporary coastal, Alpine luxury, and minimalist.

  • Visual Character: Cool white marble strips with crystalline detail and naturally varied splitface relief.

  • Lighting Advantage: Directional wall washing emphasizes the surface depth and creates changing shadows throughout the day.

  • Coordinating Materials: White oak, walnut, concrete, blackened steel, glass, and cool gray porcelain.

  • Coordinating Fixtures: Matte black, brushed nickel, polished chrome, and champagne bronze.

  • Recommended Wall Colors: Warm white, pale gray, greige, charcoal, and muted natural tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MSI Arctic White 6" x 24" made from marble or quartzite?

The standard 6" x 24" Arctic White ledger panel is natural marble. The larger 9" x 24" Arctic White XL panel is quartzite.

Does Arctic White ledger panel require grout?

No. The panels are designed to fit tightly together for a grout-free stacked-stone appearance. Mortar is still required to bond the panels securely to the substrate.

How much area does one panel cover?

Each nominal 6" x 24" panel covers approximately one square foot. A standard case contains six panels and covers approximately six square feet.

Can Arctic White marble ledger panels be installed outdoors?

Yes. MSI lists them for exterior wall applications. Outdoor performance depends on correct substrate preparation, mortar selection, flashing, drainage, movement joints, and local climate requirements.

Can Arctic White be installed in freeze-thaw climates?

It may be used in approved exterior applications when the complete assembly is designed for freeze-thaw exposure. Water must not be allowed to collect behind or above the stone. Confirm local requirements and product suitability before installation.

Can it be installed around a fireplace?

Yes, it is suitable for properly constructed fireplace surrounds. It should not be installed inside the firebox unless the entire product and installation system are specifically approved for that use.

Can it be used on shower walls?

It may be used on properly designed shower accent walls, but the deeply textured splitface surface is more difficult to clean than smooth tile. Complete waterproofing and compatible installation materials are required.

Does Arctic White marble need sealing?

Sealing is recommended where the stone may encounter moisture, grease, staining, or exterior exposure. Use a penetrating sealer approved for splitface marble.

Will every panel look identical?

No. Arctic White is genuine marble, so color, veining, crystalline markings, texture, thickness, and surface relief will naturally vary.

How much extra material should be ordered?

Order at least 10% additional material for cuts, breakage, pattern adjustment, and future repairs. Projects with numerous corners or detailed cuts may require more.

Shade Variation

Colors and textures may vary slightly between tile batches due to natural manufacturing variations. For a clear representation, we recommend ordering a sample. Learn more.
