Product Overview
Florim B&W_Marble Breach Naturale 12" x 24" Porcelain Tile (30 cm x 60 cm) is a luxury Italian porcelain field tile crafted by Florim Architectural Design in Italy. Rooted in Florim's signature concept of "chromatic duality," the B&W_Marble collection explores the stark contrast of light and dark through high-contrast marble aesthetics.
The Breach visual profile showcases a hyper-realistic, highly fragmented brecciated marble surface. It features deep obsidian black, dark carbon fields, and charcoal tones fractured by vivid, dramatic ribbons of crisp alabaster white. Factory-finished in a non-glare Naturale (Matte) surface, this 12x24 format offers maximum layout flexibility, making it ideal for residential shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen backsplashes, and high-end commercial interiors.
Recommended Applications
-
Shower Walls & Master Bathroom Floors: The Naturale matte finish offers a comfortable, non-glare surface for wet bathroom floors while making a dramatic statement as full-height vertical shower walls.
-
Kitchen Backsplashes & Feature Accent Walls: Ideal for installation behind kitchen counters or on focal accent walls. Unlike natural black marble (such as Nero Marquina), vitrified porcelain will not etch or stain when exposed to grease, citrus, or household cooking acids.
-
Herringbone & Patterned Wall Layouts: The 1:2 aspect ratio makes it perfect for dynamic layout patterns like 45-degree herringbone, vertical stack, or staggered running bond.
Design Profile
-
Aesthetic Inspiration: Avant-Garde Minimalism, High-Contrast Monolithic Luxury, Contemporary Industrial Chic.
-
Popular Layout Patterns:
-
33% Staggered Running Bond: Classic rectangular layout for floors and walls.
-
Herringbone: Set at a 45-degree angle for dramatic geometric impact on feature walls and backsplashes.
-
Vertical Stack: Modern, linear grid orientation that draws the eye upward to elevate ceiling heights.
-
-
System Integration: Coordinates directly with Florim B&W Breach 24x48 and 48x48 field slabs, as well as companion polished/glossy finishes within the collection.
Colors and textures may vary slightly between tile batches due to natural manufacturing variations. For a clear representation, we recommend ordering a sample.

Installation and Handling Guidelines
⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: INSTALLATION & LAYOUT PROTOCOL
-
Thinset Mortar Selection: Set using a high-performance, polymer-modified thinset specified for porcelain tile (ANSI A118.4 or ANSI A118.15 such as MAPEI® Ultraflex 2 or LATICRETE® 254 Platinum).
-
Running Bond Offset Rule: When laying 12" x 24" tiles in a staggered running bond layout, TCNA standards recommend offsetting joints by no more than 33% (approx. 8 inches) rather than a 50% brick bond to minimize natural tile bow lippage.
-
Rectified Micro-Grout Lines: Because the edges are precision-rectified, tiles can be set with tight 1/16" to 1/8" grout joints.
Professional Recommendations
-
Dry Lay & Shade Blending: The Breach graphic carries bold, unpredictable veining (V3 rating). Unbox and dry-lay tiles from multiple boxes before setting to randomize black, charcoal, and white veins across the layout.
-
Grout Color Strategy:
-
Select a Carbon Black or Charcoal grout (like MAPEI® Ultracolor Plus FA in Black or Charcoal) to make joint lines blend seamlessly into the dark stone matrix.
-
Select an Off-White grout if you wish to visually highlight the individual 12x24 tile boundaries.
-
Care and Maintenance
-
Routine Cleaning: Damp mop or wipe down using warm water and a neutral pH porcelain cleaner. Avoid oil-based soaps or wax cleaners, which can leave a dulling film over matte surfaces.
-
100% Acid & Stain Proof: Impervious porcelain protects against household acids, citrus juices, wine, oils, and harsh cleaning agents.
-
Zero Sealing Required: Glazed Italian porcelain is non-porous and requires no sealers, waxes, or impregnating treatments.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the advantage of 12x24 tiles over larger 24x48 slabs?
The 12x24 format is significantly easier to maneuver and install in tighter residential spaces like compact shower enclosures, powder rooms, and kitchen backsplashes. It also allows for creative layouts such as herringbone patterns that cannot be achieved with larger slabs.
Is Florim B&W Breach Naturale suitable for shower floors?
While suitable for main bathroom floors, standard shower pans with central point drains typically require smaller mosaics to conform to multi-directional slopes. However, 12x24 tiles work exceptionally well on shower floors utilizing linear trench drains.
Does this black-and-white porcelain tile require sealers?
No. Florim porcelain stoneware is vitrified and non-porous (< 0.5% absorption). It does not require any topical sealers or impregnators.
