This is the "Architectural Honeycomb" of the collection. While the 1" version offers a delicate, vintage texture, the 2" Tuscan Calacatta Hexagon provides a bolder, more contemporary geometry. It is the premier choice for a "Modern Manor" or "Organic Minimalist" aesthetic, prioritizing larger stone faces that better showcase the sweeping Italian veining while maintaining the classic hexagonal rhythm.
PRODUCT TITLE
Tuscan Series: Calacatta 2" Hexagon Polished Italian Marble Mosaic
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Elevate your surfaces with the sophisticated, mid-scale geometry of the Tuscan Calacatta 2" Hexagon. Sourced from the prestigious quarries of Italy, this mosaic is a masterclass in proportion. By doubling the size of the traditional mini-hex, this pattern strikes the perfect balance: it’s large enough to reveal the dramatic charcoal-and-grey "story" of the marble, yet small enough to retain the structural charm of a honeycomb weave.
The 12" x 12" format (approximate) serves as a luminous canvas for the stone's crystalline mineralogy. Against a crisp, snowy-white field, sophisticated feathery veins flow across the rhythmic 2-inch chips. The high-polished finish acts as a mirror, reflecting light across the geometric facets to create a surface that feels bright, expansive, and texturally rich. Whether used as a luxury shower pan or a high-impact kitchen backsplash, it brings a sense of handcrafted permanence to the home.
KEY FEATURES
-
Modern Mid-Scale Geometry: The 2-inch hexagon offers a cleaner, more contemporary look than 1-inch mosaics, reducing the number of grout lines.
-
Premium Italian Calacatta: Features the iconic cool-white field with distinctive feathery grey veining that flows organically across the geometric chips.
-
Balanced Surface Traction: Provides excellent slip resistance for wet-area flooring while offering a smoother, more "solid stone" feel underfoot than smaller mosaics.
-
Luminous Mirror-Polish: A high-gloss finish that amplifies the stone’s natural depth and makes the grey veining appear three-dimensional.
-
Seamless Interlocking Mesh: Flexible sheets are engineered to nestle together perfectly, ensuring the hexagonal grid remains flawless across large spans.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
⚠️ CRITICAL: Calacatta marble is a translucent natural stone. You must use a High-Quality Polymer-Modified White Thin-set. Using gray mortar will result in "shadowing" from behind, permanently turning the crisp white field and grey veining into a dull, muddy slate color.
Manufacturer Recommendations:
-
Recommended Grout: Use a Non-Sanded Grout in "Bright White" for a seamless look, or "Silver" to subtly emphasize the 2-inch hexagonal framework.
-
Sealing Requirement: Apply a high-quality solvent-based penetrating sealer before and after grouting. This is vital to protect the stone's edges from absorbing grout pigments or bathroom oils.
-
Trowel Size: Use a 3/16" x 1/4" V-notch trowel to ensure full coverage without excess mortar oozing through the joints.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Is the 2" hex better for floors than the 1" hex? It depends on the look. The 2" hex feels more modern and is easier to clean (fewer grout lines), while the 1" hex offers a more "vintage" grip. Both are excellent for shower floors.
-
Can I use this on a bathroom wall? Absolutely. It makes a stunning feature wall in a walk-in shower or a sophisticated backsplash behind a floating vanity.
-
How much variation is there? As a natural stone, each 2-inch chip is a unique fragment. Expect a beautiful, organic range of white field and grey movement throughout the installation.
PRO INSTALLATION TIPS
-
The "Invisible Seam" Trick: When laying the sheets, ensure the "teeth" of the hexagons interlock tightly. The gap between sheets must be identical to the internal joints to avoid visible "sheet lines."
-
Dry-Lay for Flow: Open 3 or 4 boxes. Shuffle the sheets to ensure the "vein-heavy" chips are distributed artistically across the floor or wall for a balanced look.
-
Microfiber Buffing: Once the grout is dry, buff the entire surface with a dry microfiber cloth. This removes the microscopic "grout haze" and restores the mirror-like brilliance of the Calacatta polish.

"I recently renovated my kitchen and used these 2" Calacatta Gold Marble Hexagon Mosaic Tiles for the backsplash. I couldn't be happier with the result! The veining in the marble is gorgeous and the gold accents really elevate the look. My contractor said they were easy to work with. They're definitely a splurge, but worth every penny for the high-end feel they bring to the space."
