Product Overview
Fujiwa Tile VIP 3" x 3" Series in Hunter Green is a premium, high-performance porcelain pool tile engineered specifically for submerged aquatic environments, spas, and outdoor water features. Part of Fujiwa’s acclaimed VIP Collection, this 3" x 3" square mosaic format brings a rich, deep forest-green aesthetic to waterlines and pool basins, echoing natural lagoons and mountain streams.
Manufactured with an impervious porcelain body and a smooth, chemical-resistant glossy glaze, VIP Hunter Green withstands constant water immersion, aggressive chemical treatments, and harsh freeze-thaw cycles. Pre-assembled on flexible mesh-backed sheets (~1 sq. ft. per sheet), it offers rapid installation and excellent structural durability.

Installation and Handling Guidelines
⚠️ IMPORTANT: SUBMERGED AQUATIC TILE INSTALLATION PROTOCOL
-
Submerged Setting Mortar: Always set pool tiles using a high-performance, polymer-modified thin-set mortar specifically rated for continuous submerged water immersion (ANSI A118.4 / ANSI A118.15).
-
Pool-Grade Grout Selection: Use a high-performance, stain-resistant pool grout or 100% solid epoxy grout (ANSI A118.3) to maximize joint longevity against pool chemicals and algae treatments.
-
Curing Time Requirements: Allow the thin-set mortar and grout to fully cure (typically 7 to 21 days depending on mortar manufacturer and climate) before filling the pool with water.
-
Substrate Waterproofing: Ensure the underlying pool shell substrate (shotcrete/gunite) is cured, clean, and coated with a flexible waterproofing membrane rated for submerged applications.
Care and Maintenance
-
Chemical Balance Maintenance: Keep pool chemistry balanced (pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and sanitizer levels) to prevent mineral scaling or scum accumulation on the waterline.
-
Routine Cleaning: Wash periodically using a soft nylon brush and a neutral, pool-safe tile cleaner. Avoid harsh wire brushes or steel wool that could scratch the glazed surface.
-
Scale Removal: Remove calcium or hard water deposits with a mild, pool-safe descaling solution formulated for glazed porcelain tile.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Fujiwa VIP Series Hunter Green tile frost-proof for cold climates?
Yes. Fujiwa VIP porcelain tiles have an impervious water absorption rate (≤ 0.5%), making them completely frost-proof and resistant to freeze-thaw damage in cold winter regions.
Can 3" x 3" tile be used on pool steps and sun shelves?
Yes. The 3" x 3" chip format provides frequent grout joints for underfoot traction, while the deep green color offers excellent edge visibility on steps and sun shelves for pool safety.
Why is polymer-modified thinset required for pool tile installation?
Submerged pool tiles endure continuous hydraulic pressure, thermal expansion, and chemical exposure. Standard indoor tile mortars break down underwater over time, so polymer-modified mortars rated for submerged use (ANSI A118.4/A118.15) are essential.
