Installation & Handling Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: TRANSLUCENT AND MOISTURE-SENSITIVE ONYX

Honey Onyx can darken, shadow, curl, or discolor when installed with unsuitable mortar. Test the complete setting, grout, and sealing system on spare material before installation.

• Use White Setting Material: Never install light-colored onyx with gray mortar. Use a bright-white rapid-setting natural-stone mortar or epoxy adhesive specifically approved for translucent, moisture-sensitive onyx.

• Flatten Mortar Ridges: Trowel lines may be visible through translucent pieces. Flatten the mortar into a smooth, consistent bed before placing each sheet.

• Inspect and Dry-Lay: Arrange all sheets before installation to balance lighter cream pieces with darker amber and caramel areas.

• Check Sheet Alignment: Adjust individual pieces along sheet edges to maintain consistent spacing and prevent visible sheet outlines.

• Substrate Preparation: The substrate must be clean, flat, stable, and suitable for delicate natural-stone mosaics.

• Wet-Area Waterproofing: Install shower applications over a complete waterproofing system. Sealing the onyx does not waterproof the wall assembly.

• Pre-Sealing: Apply a penetrating sealer approved for polished onyx before grouting. Test first to evaluate possible color changes.
