Product Overview

Florim Rêves Noisette 32" × 71" Matte Porcelain Slab Tile combines expansive scale with the warm, translucent character of rare alabaster. Its sophisticated Noisette palette layers hazelnut beige, taupe, warm gray, cream, and delicate caramel-brown veining into a luxurious yet restrained surface.

The matte finish softens the collection’s visual depth and gives the warm coloration a calm, natural presence. At nearly six feet long, each rectified porcelain panel creates broad fields of uninterrupted movement with significantly fewer grout joints than conventional tile.

Substantial V4 variation enhances the natural-stone effect, while the Italian porcelain construction provides greater stain, moisture, and maintenance resistance than genuine alabaster. Rêves Noisette is an architectural choice for expansive bathroom walls, residential floors, fireplace surrounds, feature walls, reception areas, and sophisticated commercial interiors.

Recommended Applications

  • Full-Height Shower Walls: Creates an expansive, nearly seamless alabaster appearance with fewer grout joints.

  • Primary Bathroom Walls: Ideal behind floating vanities, freestanding tubs, mirrors, and architectural fixtures.

  • Residential Floors: Suitable for open-plan living areas, primary suites, kitchens, entries, and other properly prepared interior floors.

  • Fireplace Surrounds: The large format allows veining to flow across tall architectural features outside the firebox.

  • Kitchen Feature Walls: Creates a dramatic stone-look backdrop behind cabinetry, islands, and dining areas.

  • Hospitality Interiors: Appropriate for hotel bathrooms, reception spaces, luxury retail, restaurants, and suitable commercial floors.

  • Elevator and Lobby Walls: The broad panels create a refined surface with minimal visual interruption.

  • Exterior Applications: The porcelain is frost resistant, but exterior use requires verification of the climate, substrate, setting system, drainage, structural support, and applicable slip requirements.

Layout Options

  • Vertical Full-Height Installation: Emphasizes ceiling height and displays the elongated veining across shower and feature walls.

  • Horizontal Installation: Visually broadens rooms and creates a panoramic stone-slab appearance.

  • Straight Stack: Maintains clean, continuous grout lines and is generally the most practical floor layout.

  • Controlled Offset: A limited offset may be used after evaluating tile flatness. Avoid conventional 50% running bond.

  • Bookmatch-Inspired Layout: Selected graphics can be arranged to create mirrored or flowing movement, although standard cartons are not sequentially bookmatched.

  • Floor-to-Wall Continuity: Use the same format across adjoining floors and walls to create an immersive architectural surface.

Installation & Handling Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: PROFESSIONAL LARGE-FORMAT INSTALLATION

Each tile covers approximately 15.5 square feet and weighs about 65 pounds. Specialized handling frames, suction cups, cutting equipment, and multiple trained installers are required. This product is not recommended for ordinary DIY installation.

  • Confirm the Item Number: Verify that every carton identifies Rêve Noisette 80 × 180 Matte, item 770419. Do not mix it with the glossy version.

  • Delivery Inspection: Inspect crates and cartons before accepting delivery. Photograph visible damage and examine each panel before installation.

  • Vertical Storage: Store tiles upright on an appropriate padded A-frame in a dry, protected area. Do not leave panels unsupported or allow them to bow.

  • Safe Handling: Use a rigid large-format carrying frame with suitable vacuum suction cups. Never lift or transport a panel flat without full support.

  • Installer Requirements: At least two properly equipped installers are generally required, with additional assistance appropriate for the jobsite and installation orientation.

  • Substrate Flatness: For tile with an edge longer than 15", the substrate should generally vary no more than 1/8" in 10 feet and 1/16" in 2 feet. Correct irregularities before setting.

  • Mortar Selection: Use a premium polymer-modified Large and Heavy Tile mortar meeting ANSI A118.4 or preferably A118.15 and approved for large-format porcelain.

  • Mortar Application: Directionally trowel both the substrate and tile back using compatible parallel ridges. Collapse the ridges completely when setting the panel.

  • Mortar Coverage: Obtain at least 80% coverage in dry interiors and 95% in wet or exterior installations, with complete support along edges and corners.

  • Grout Joint: Rectified edges permit narrow joints. A minimum joint of approximately 2 mm may be considered, subject to actual caliber, substrate conditions, installer requirements, and applicable standards.

  • Offset Limitation: Use straight stacking or an offset no greater than approximately 33% unless tile flatness has been evaluated and another layout approved.

  • Lippage Control: Use a leveling system formulated for large-format panels when appropriate. It does not replace substrate preparation or complete mortar coverage.

  • Wet-Area Preparation: Install shower walls over a complete waterproofing system. Tile and grout do not waterproof the underlying assembly.

  • Shower-Floor Caution: Although the matte finish has published wet-slip data, the panel’s size makes it unsuitable for most conventional sloped shower floors. Use a coordinating mosaic instead.

  • Movement Accommodation: Provide perimeter and field movement joints following TCNA EJ171 and applicable construction requirements.

  • Cutting: Use a stable large-format cutting rail or wet saw designed for porcelain panels. Support the entire tile during cutting and drilling.

  • Silica Safety: Do not dry-cut or grind. Use wet methods and follow occupational crystalline-silica protection requirements.

  • Order Allowance: Add approximately 10–15% for cuts, breakage, graphic selection, and future repairs. Because of the panel size, calculate waste by complete tiles and cartons rather than square footage alone.

Shade Variation Notice

Rêve Noisette carries a V4 substantial-variation rating. Significant differences in background tone, hazelnut intensity, cream clouding, vein placement, and graphic structure are intentional.

Open and inspect every carton before installation. Arrange the panels in the actual installation orientation and viewing sequence so the movement appears balanced across the finished surface.

Care & Maintenance

  • Clean with warm water and a neutral-pH porcelain-tile cleaner.

  • Use a microfiber cloth, soft mop, or non-abrasive nylon pad.

  • Avoid waxes, oily soaps, abrasive powders, and products that leave a slippery or cloudy film.

  • Rinse detergent residue thoroughly, particularly on floors and wet-area walls.

  • Porcelain normally does not require sealing.

  • Cement-based grout may require sealing according to the grout manufacturer’s recommendations.

  • Protect newly installed floors from construction debris, rolling loads, and abrasive traffic.

Design Profile

  • Aesthetic Inspiration: Warm alabaster, contemporary Italian luxury, organic modern, quiet luxury, and refined hospitality interiors.

  • Color Character: Hazelnut beige, warm taupe, cream, caramel, and softly smoky gray.

  • Visual Advantage: The nearly six-foot length presents the graphic with minimal interruption and dramatically reduces grout lines.

  • Complementary Materials: Walnut, white oak, bronze glass, natural linen, cream plaster, and brushed limestone.

  • Complementary Countertops: Taj Mahal quartzite, creamy quartz, Calacatta Gold marble, and warm concrete-look surfaces.

  • Complementary Metals: Brushed brass, champagne bronze, aged bronze, polished nickel, and matte black.

  • Suggested Grout Colors: Florim recommends verifying Mapei color 130 as a coordinating reference. Warm taupe or hazelnut grout generally creates the most unified appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rêves Noisette natural alabaster?

No. It is Italian porcelain stoneware inspired by the translucent appearance and flowing movement of natural alabaster.

Is the tile exactly 32" × 71"?

That is the nominal U.S. size. Its exact metric format is 80 × 180 cm, approximately 31.5" × 70.9".

Is this considered a porcelain slab?

It is a very large rectified porcelain tile or panel. “Porcelain slab tile” is an appropriate retail description, although it is thicker than Florim’s 6 mm Magnum slabs.

How thick is it?

The manufacturer specifies 9 mm, approximately 3/8".

How much does one tile cover?

Each tile covers approximately 15.50 square feet. Two tiles cover approximately 31 square feet per carton.

Can it be installed on floors?

Yes. Its PEI 4 rating supports residential, medium-commercial, and light-institutional floor applications when properly installed.

Can it be installed on shower walls?

Yes. Specialized large-format installation equipment and a complete waterproofing system are required.

Can it be used on a shower floor?

It is not appropriate for most conventional shower floors because the large panel cannot easily follow multiple drainage slopes. A coordinating matte mosaic is preferable.

Does it require sealing?

The porcelain surface normally does not require sealing. Cement-based grout may require a grout sealer.

Can one person install it?

No. Each panel weighs approximately 65 pounds and is vulnerable to breakage when inadequately supported. Multiple trained installers and specialized handling equipment are recommended.
