Installation Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: LARGE AND HEAVY PAVER

Each 24" × 48" paver weighs approximately 72 pounds. Handling, lifting, base preparation, and placement should be performed by qualified installers using appropriate equipment.

• Approved installation methods: MSI identifies installation over grass, sand-set systems, or mortar over concrete for Arterra pavers.

• Mortar installation: Use an exterior-rated polymer-modified Large and Heavy Tile mortar approved for 2 cm porcelain. Achieve substantially complete mortar contact beneath the entire paver.

• Sand-set installation: Prepare a properly excavated, graded, and compacted aggregate base. The finished system must remain stable and allow proper drainage.

• Wall and substrate flatness: Large 24" × 48" units require a particularly flat and uniform base. High spots or voids can cause rocking, cracking, and uneven edges.

• Joint spacing: Do not butt the pavers tightly together. Provide appropriately sized joints based on the installation system, dimensional tolerance, and anticipated movement.
