Mixed-material & specialty surface guidance
General material guidance. Product-specific instructions and the manufacturer’s current requirements take priority.
Inspect the product and approve the layout before installation. Have a qualified installer confirm the substrate, preparation, setting materials, joint spacing and curing requirements for the product and location.
- Follow the instructions for the complete mosaic or composite product, including any backing or surface treatment.
- Mortar, grout, cutting methods and care products must be compatible with every component. Test a sample installation first.
- Confirm sealing requirements for any stone components and grout without damaging glass, metal or decorative finishes.
- Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaning products approved for the full blend. Avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads unless the manufacturer expressly permits them.

Does a mixed-material mosaic need sealing?
Stone components or grout may require sealing even when glass or metal pieces do not. Confirm a compatible product and application method for the whole mosaic.
Can I use the instructions for just one material?
Use the complete product’s instructions. Mixed mosaics, metal finishes and laminated products can require a different system from a single-material tile.
Can I use this product on floors, in showers, in pools or outdoors?
Check this product’s stated applications and technical specifications. Material alone does not establish suitability for wet areas, submerged use, traffic or freeze-thaw exposure. Contact HeyTiles before installation if your application is not confirmed.
How much should I order?
Check the selling unit and coverage in Specifications. Use the quantity calculator as a planning aid, and ask your installer to confirm the allowance for your layout, cuts and spare material before ordering.
