Product Overview
MSI XL RockMount Arabescato Venato 9" x 24" Natural Stacked Stone Ledger Panel Wall Tile combines warm marble coloration, dimensional texture, and large-scale architectural presence for interior and exterior walls. Part of MSI’s XL RockMount® Collection, each oversized panel is assembled from genuine Arabescato Venato marble strips with a naturally textured splitface surface.
The Arabescato Venato palette blends luminous white marble with ivory, cream, soft beige, and subtle gray detailing. Its warm coloration gives the stone a softer appearance than cool-white ledger panels, while the dimensional surface produces natural highlights and shadows under directional lighting.
Each nominal 9" x 24" panel covers approximately 1.50 square feet. The interlocking ledger-panel construction minimizes visible seams and creates an authentic stacked-stone appearance with little or no face grout. MSI recommends Arabescato Venato XL for interior accent walls, fireplace surrounds, exterior façades, columns, and other vertical architectural features. MSI Surfaces

Installation and Handling Guidelines
Important: Heavy Natural-Stone Wall Installation
-
Confirm Structural Capacity: A full case weighs approximately 55.77 pounds. The wall assembly must support the combined weight of the marble, mortar, and substrate.
-
Use a Suitable Substrate: Install over properly prepared concrete, masonry, mortar beds, or cementitious backer board as appropriate for the application.
-
Prepare a Flat Surface: Oversized ledger panels require a clean, rigid, plumb, and sufficiently flat substrate to prevent open joints and misalignment.
-
Use White Natural-Stone Mortar: Select a premium white large-and-heavy-tile mortar approved for marble, vertical installations, and the intended substrate.
-
Verify Mortar Compatibility: Follow the mortar manufacturer’s recommendations for natural stone, exterior exposure, fireplaces, and wet environments.
-
Back-Butter the Panels: Apply mortar to the backs of the panels as needed to achieve proper contact and complete support.
-
Maintain Tight Joints: Fit adjoining panels closely together to preserve the intended stacked-stone appearance. Face grouting is generally not required.
-
Stagger Vertical Seams: Arrange adjoining rows so vertical panel joints do not align and panel boundaries remain less visible.
-
Dry-Lay and Blend: Arrange panels from multiple cases before installation to balance warm-white, ivory, beige, and gray variation.
-
Use Matching Corners: Factory-produced 9" x 18" corner panels create a more continuous appearance around columns and outside corners.
-
Provide Movement Joints: Include movement accommodation according to applicable building and tile-industry requirements. Never bridge existing structural joints.
-
Waterproof Exterior and Wet Areas: Provide the required drainage plane, flashing, waterproofing, and moisture-management system behind the stone.
-
Protect Horizontal Surfaces: Exterior walls and columns require properly sloped caps or flashing to prevent water from entering behind the veneer.
-
Follow Fireplace Clearances: Suitable for fireplace surrounds but not automatically approved inside a firebox. Follow the fireplace manufacturer’s clearance and substrate requirements.
-
Cut Only with Wet Methods: Use a wet saw and appropriate respiratory protection. Do not dry-cut, grind, or polish materials that can release respirable crystalline-silica dust.
Care and Maintenance
-
Remove loose dust with a soft brush, microfiber duster, or vacuum attachment.
-
Clean periodically with warm water and a neutral-pH cleaner formulated for natural marble.
-
Avoid vinegar, lemon, acidic cleaners, bleach, abrasive chemicals, and wire brushes.
-
Do not direct high-pressure washing equipment at close range toward the marble or panel joints.
-
Apply a penetrating natural-stone sealer when appropriate for the environment and desired stain protection.
-
Test any sealer on spare material first to confirm that it does not alter the marble’s natural coloration.
-
Inspect exterior installations periodically for failed sealant, loose pieces, open joints, or possible water-entry points.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is MSI Arabescato Venato XL made from natural marble?
Yes. The panels are assembled from genuine natural marble strips. They are not manufactured stone or printed marble-look porcelain.
What colors are present in Arabescato Venato?
The panels feature warm white marble accented by ivory, cream, soft beige, and subtle gray detailing.
How much area does one panel cover?
Each nominal 9" x 24" panel covers approximately 1.50 square feet. Three panels provide approximately 4.50 square feet per case.
How is an XL panel different from a standard ledger panel?
The XL panel measures 9" high instead of the conventional 6" height. It provides greater coverage and creates a larger visual scale across fireplaces, façades, and expansive feature walls.
Does Arabescato Venato require grout?
The ledger panels are designed to fit tightly together for a stacked-stone appearance. Face grouting is generally not required, although mortar is necessary to bond the panels securely to the substrate.
Can Arabescato Venato XL be installed outdoors?
Yes. MSI lists it for exterior wall applications. Outdoor performance depends on proper substrate preparation, exterior-rated mortar, flashing, drainage, waterproofing, movement joints, and locally appropriate installation methods.
Can it be installed in freeze-thaw climates?
It is listed for frost-resistant exterior wall applications. However, the complete assembly must prevent water from collecting behind or above the stone during freezing conditions.
Can it be installed around a fireplace?
Yes. It is suitable for properly constructed fireplace surrounds. It should not be installed inside the firebox unless the complete stone and installation system are specifically approved for that use.
Can Arabescato Venato be installed on shower walls?
It may be used for certain shower-wall applications, but the textured surface is more difficult to clean than smooth tile. Complete waterproofing and compatible natural-stone setting materials are required.
Does Arabescato Venato marble require sealing?
A penetrating sealer is recommended where the stone may encounter moisture, grease, staining, or exterior exposure. Always test the sealer on spare material first.
Can these panels be used as flooring?
No. MSI classifies Arabescato Venato XL as a wall product and does not recommend it for residential or commercial floors.
Will every panel look identical?
No. Genuine marble naturally varies in shade, veining, mineral markings, texture, thickness, and surface relief.
How much extra material should be ordered?
Order at least 10% additional material for cutting, breakage, blending, and future repairs. Projects with numerous corners, columns, or complicated cuts may require approximately 15% overage.
