Product Overview
Elysium Mystic Ocean Matte Hexagon 4" x 4" Mosaic Tile (12" x 13.5" Sheet) brings dramatic organic stone movement, dynamic cool-to-warm tonal variance, and high-performance aquatic durability to swimming pools, luxury showers, and architectural feature walls. Designed by Elysium Tile to pair seamlessly with the larger field tiles in the Mystic Collection, this mosaic features ~4" x 4" hexagon chips pre-assembled on a flexible interlocking mesh sheet (~1.12 sq. ft. per sheet).
Unlike plain solid blue tiles, Mystic Ocean showcases an expressive brecciated stone design—blending ice blue, sky blue, steel gray, and creamy white tones interwoven with dramatic dark brown, rust, and graphite vein swirling. Engineered from dense, high-fired porcelain with an impervious water absorption rate ($\le 0.5\%$), it easily handles continuous water submersion, pool chemicals, salt systems, and severe outdoor freeze-thaw cycles.
Recommended Applications
-
Swimming Pool Waterlines & Sun Shelves: Frames pool perimeters with a rich, stone-look ocean border that blends blue water reflections with warm earthy tones, offering underfoot traction on steps and sun shelves.
-
Shower Floors & Wet Room Walls: Ideal for primary bath shower pans and steam rooms, where the geometric grout joints and smooth matte finish provide comfortable, non-slip grip.
-
Kitchen Backsplashes & Spa Feature Walls: Adds sophisticated honeycomb geometry behind ranges, wet bars, or spa spillways, wiping clean effortlessly without showing water spots.
Design Profile
-
Aesthetic Inspiration: Earth & Ocean Hybrid, Organic Modernism, Luxury Resort Spa, Coastal Rustic.
-
Visual Advantage: The swirling brown and rust veining against cool blue stone fields bridges the gap between warm wood/stone decking and blue pool water.
-
Complementary Finishes: Pairs beautifully with teak wood decking, rich walnut millwork, warm travertine coping, champagne bronze or matte black fixtures, and white/gray quartz counter surfaces.
Colors and textures may vary slightly between tile batches due to natural manufacturing variations. For a clear representation, we recommend ordering a sample.

Installation and Handling Guidelines
⚠️ IMPORTANT: SUBMERGED AQUATIC & MOSAIC INSTALLATION PROTOCOL
-
Submerged Setting Mortar: For pool, spa, or steam shower installations, set tiles using a high-performance, polymer-modified thin-set mortar specifically rated for continuous submerged water immersion (ANSI A118.4 / ANSI A118.15).
-
Flatten Trowel Ridges: Apply thinset with a 3/16" x 1/4" V-notch trowel, then flatten the mortar ridges with the smooth side of the trowel before setting the mosaic. This prevents trowel rake lines from showing through grout joints.
-
Interlocking Sheet Alignment: Carefully interlock adjacent hexagon sheets during setting to maintain consistent 1/8" grout spacing across sheet boundaries.
-
Pool-Grade Grout Selection: Use a high-performance, stain-resistant pool grout or 100% solid epoxy grout (ANSI A118.3) to maximize joint longevity against pool chemicals and algae treatments.
Care and Maintenance
-
Routine Cleaning: Sweep or rinse away surface debris, then clean periodically using warm water and a neutral pH household tile cleaner or pool-safe tile detergent.
-
Zero Sealing Required: Impervious glazed porcelain naturally repels water, oils, coffee, and pool chemical staining without needing surface sealers.
-
Waterline Scale Removal: Remove mineral scaling along pool waterlines using a mild, pool-safe descaling solution and a soft nylon brush. Avoid harsh wire brushes.
