Product Overview

Cerdomus Pietra di Ostuni Avorio Matte 8" × 16" Porcelain Tile captures the softly weathered appearance of limestone found throughout Italy’s Puglia region. Made in Italy, this porcelain tile features a warm ivory and creamy beige palette enriched by subtle mineral markings, tonal movement, and an aged-stone character.

The versatile 8" × 16" format can be installed independently in running-bond, stacked, or offset layouts. It can also coordinate with other Pietra di Ostuni sizes to create a modular Versailles-inspired pattern. Antique-style edges and a gently textured matte surface reinforce the look of hand-finished natural stone while providing the durability and straightforward care of porcelain.

Recommended Applications

  • Kitchen and Dining Floors: Delivers the warmth of aged Italian limestone with porcelain’s resistance to moisture and everyday wear.

  • Bathrooms and Shower Walls: Creates a calm, Mediterranean-inspired setting when installed over a properly prepared and waterproofed substrate.

  • Foyers and Living Areas: The warm ivory coloration complements traditional, transitional, rustic and modern European interiors.

  • Versailles-Style Layouts: Coordinates with complementary 8" × 8", 16" × 16" and 16" × 24" formats for modular installations.

  • Covered Exterior Areas: May be considered where the selected finish, substrate, drainage and installation system meet local exterior and freeze-thaw requirements.

Installation and Handling Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: VERIFY THE FINISH BEFORE INSTALLATION

The 8" × 16" size is manufactured in both Matt and Grip finishes. Confirm the carton label, SKU and intended application before setting the tile.

  • Dry-Lay and Blend: V4 variation means noticeable differences in shade and graphic detail are intentional. Open several cartons and blend tiles before installation.

  • Mortar Selection: Use an ANSI A118.4 or A118.15 polymer-modified mortar approved for porcelain and the installation environment.

  • Coverage: Directionally trowel the mortar and back-butter where needed. Target at least 80% coverage in dry interiors and 95% in wet or exterior installations.

  • Grout Joints: Antique edges generally require a more visible grout joint than rectified tile. A joint around 3/16" to 1/4" may be appropriate, subject to manufacturer and installer recommendations.

  • Offset Layout: Limit running-bond offsets to approximately 33% unless the installer confirms that tile flatness permits a different layout without excessive lippage.

  • Wet Areas: Install over an approved waterproofing system. An 8" × 16" tile may be difficult to slope evenly toward a small center drain, so suitability for shower floors should be confirmed by the installer.

  • Cutting Safety: Wet-cut porcelain and follow OSHA-compliant silica-dust controls.

  • Order Allowance: Add approximately 10–15% for cuts, breakage and future repairs. More may be necessary for modular or diagonal layouts.

Care and Maintenance

  • Clean with warm water and a neutral-pH porcelain or tile cleaner.

  • Use a soft nylon brush when needed to clean the lightly textured surface.

  • Avoid waxes, oily soaps and cleaners that leave a slippery residue.

  • Porcelain normally does not require sealing. Cement-based grout may require sealing according to the grout manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Test specialty cleaners in an inconspicuous area before treating the full installation.

Design Profile

  • Aesthetic: Aged Italian limestone, Mediterranean farmhouse, rustic European and warm transitional.

  • Color Story: Soft ivory, warm cream, pale beige and subtle mineral accents.

  • Coordinating Materials: White oak, walnut, unlacquered brass, aged bronze, creamy quartz and warm plaster finishes.

  • Grout Suggestions: Warm ivory or light beige creates a blended stone appearance; medium taupe emphasizes the individual tile format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cerdomus Ostuni Avorio natural stone?

Does this porcelain tile need to be sealed?

The porcelain surface generally does not require sealing. Cement-based grout may require a penetrating grout sealer.

Can it be used on bathroom floors?

Can the 8" × 16" tile be used in a Versailles pattern?

Yes. It coordinates with additional Pietra di Ostuni formats to create modular patterns. All required sizes should be ordered together to maintain compatible caliber and shade.
