Product Overview

Prestigio Marfil Soft 30" × 60" Porcelain Tile recreates the warm ivory field and restrained mineral movement of classic Crema Marfil marble in a durable, large-format porcelain surface. Its beige-cream background is layered with subtle tonal clouds and delicate warm-gray veining, creating an elegant natural-stone appearance suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Unlike the reflective Lucido version, the Soft finish has a smooth, low-sheen character that gently diffuses light. It provides a more natural honed-marble appearance while concealing fingerprints, water spots, and routine traffic marks more effectively than polished tile.

The expansive 30" × 60" format covers approximately 12.11 square feet with a single tile, dramatically reducing grout lines across open floors, full-height shower walls, fireplace surrounds, and architectural feature surfaces.

Recommended Applications

  • Open Living and Dining Floors: The large format creates a continuous warm-marble appearance with minimal grout interruption.

  • Primary Bathroom Floors: Suitable for general bathroom floors outside continuously wet zones, subject to applicable slip requirements.

  • Full-Height Shower Walls: Produces a nearly slab-like shower enclosure with fewer grout joints and straightforward porcelain maintenance.

  • Kitchen Floors and Walls: Offers the warmth of Crema Marfil without natural marble’s sensitivity to acidic foods and household spills.

  • Fireplace Surrounds: The soft finish creates an understated stone appearance without strong glare from nearby lighting.

  • Foyers and Hallways: Suitable for interior circulation areas that are not directly exposed to tracked-in rainwater.

  • Commercial Interiors: Appropriate for boutiques, hospitality areas, offices, and reception spaces within the verified traffic classification.

  • Architectural Feature Walls: The elongated format can be installed horizontally to widen a room visually or vertically to emphasize ceiling height.

Installation & Handling Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: OVERSIZED PORCELAIN INSTALLATION PROTOCOL

  • Inspect Before Installation: Confirm the manufacturer, SKU, finish, dimensions, thickness, shade, and condition before setting. This is especially important because several Prestigio products share similar names.

  • Plan Handling Carefully: A 30" × 60" tile is large and heavy. Two installers and professional suction lifters are strongly recommended for safe movement and placement.

  • Dry-Lay and Blend: The V3 rating indicates noticeable differences in tone and graphics. Open several boxes and arrange the tiles before installation to balance lighter and darker pieces.

  • Rotate Repeated Faces: Examine the printed graphics and rotate tiles as needed to prevent identical visual faces from appearing beside one another.

  • Prepare a Very Flat Substrate: Large-format porcelain requires a flat, stable surface. Correct dips, ridges, and high points before setting.

  • Use LHT Mortar: Install with a high-performance polymer-modified Large and Heavy Tile mortar approved for porcelain, the substrate, and the intended application.

  • White Mortar Recommended: White mortar is preferable beneath this light Marfil colorway, particularly when using light-colored grout.

  • Directional Troweling: Comb mortar in one direction and back-butter the entire tile. Move the tile perpendicular to the ridges to collapse the mortar and eliminate trapped air.

  • Achieve Proper Coverage: Obtain at least approximately 80% mortar contact in dry interior areas and 95% in wet vertical installations, including full support beneath edges and corners.

  • Use a Leveling System: Mechanical leveling clips can help control lippage but cannot correct an uneven substrate or inadequate mortar coverage.

  • Limit Running-Bond Offset: If using a staggered layout, keep the offset at approximately 33% or less unless the tiles have been evaluated for flatness.

  • Maintain Grout Joints: Do not butt the rectified tiles together. Approximately 1/8" is a practical starting joint, subject to caliber and site requirements.

  • Provide Movement Joints: Include perimeter and field movement joints according to applicable installation standards.

  • Waterproof Wet Walls: Tile and grout do not constitute waterproofing. Shower walls require an approved waterproof membrane beneath the porcelain.

  • Wet-Cut Only: Use water-fed cutting equipment and proper silica-dust controls. Never dry-cut porcelain using power tools.

  • Order Additional Material: Allow approximately 10% extra for straight layouts and 15% or more for complex cuts, diagonal patterns, or future repairs.

Care & Maintenance

  • Clean with warm water and a neutral cleaner formulated for porcelain.

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly to prevent abrasive grit from dulling the Soft surface.

  • Avoid oily soaps and excessive detergent, which can leave a visible film on matte porcelain.

  • Use nonabrasive pads or microfiber cleaning tools.

  • Remove installation residue and grout haze promptly with a porcelain-safe cleaner.

  • Do not apply natural-stone sealer, wax, polish, or color enhancer to the porcelain surface.

  • Cementitious grout may require sealing; epoxy and certain high-performance grouts generally do not.

  • Wipe standing water promptly and use appropriate mats where water may be tracked indoors.

Design Profile

  • Aesthetic Direction: Warm Minimalism, Italian Contemporary, Quiet Luxury, Mediterranean Modern.

  • Visual Character: Creamy ivory marble movement presented through a smooth, honed-looking Soft surface.

  • Spatial Advantage: The 60-inch length visually extends rooms while minimizing grout lines across broad surfaces.

  • Complementary Cabinetry: White oak, walnut, warm white, mushroom, taupe, or espresso.

  • Complementary Fixtures: Antique brass, champagne bronze, polished nickel, chrome, or brushed stainless steel.

  • Grout Suggestions: Ivory or warm beige for visual continuity; pale taupe for subtle architectural definition.

  • Finish Coordination: Combine Marfil Soft floors with Marfil Lucido walls to create contrast between restrained satin texture and reflective polished surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Prestigio Marfil Soft natural marble?

No. It is porcelain designed to reproduce the warm ivory color and movement of Crema Marfil marble.

What does “Soft” mean?

Soft describes a smooth, low-sheen surface with the appearance of honed stone. It is less reflective than Lucido polished tile.

Is the tile 30 × 60 centimeters or inches?

This specific SKU is 30 × 60 inches, approximately 75 × 150 cm. It should not be confused with Refin’s smaller 30 × 60 cm tile, which is approximately 12 × 24 inches.

How many tiles come in one box?

One oversized tile comes in each box and covers approximately 12.11 square feet.

Can it be installed on shower walls?

Yes. It is well suited to large, properly waterproofed shower walls.

Can it be installed on a shower floor?

It is not the preferred choice. Its R9 Soft surface is not a high-grip wet-area finish, and the 30" × 60" format cannot easily follow the compound slopes surrounding a conventional center drain.

Is the Soft finish safer than Lucido?

Soft generally provides more traction than glossy Lucido, but it is not automatically approved for every wet or barefoot application.

Does the porcelain require sealing?

No. The porcelain surface does not require sealing. Only certain cement-based grout products may need a sealer.
