Installation Guidelines

Important: V4 High-Variation Layout Protocol

Substantial differences in veining, color intensity, pattern direction, and graphic movement are intentional. The tile should be dry-laid and blended before installation.

• Open several cartons and arrange the tiles before setting them permanently.

• Distribute lighter, darker, heavily veined, and quieter pieces throughout the installation.

• Rotate tiles as needed to avoid unintended pattern repetition.

• Install over a clean, flat, structurally stable, and properly prepared substrate.

• Use a polymer-modified Large and Heavy Tile mortar meeting ANSI A118.4 or A118.15 and approved for porcelain.

• White mortar is recommended beneath this light-colored tile, particularly where edges or transitions may expose the setting material.

• Directionally trowel the mortar and back-butter tiles as necessary.

• Obtain at least 80% mortar coverage in dry interior areas and 95% coverage in wet locations.

• For running-bond layouts, limit the offset to no more than 33% unless tile flatness has been evaluated and the installer approves another arrangement.

• Rectified edges permit narrow joints, but grout width must accommodate actual tile dimensions and substrate conditions.

• Use non-sanded grout or a fine-aggregate grout approved for polished porcelain when scratching is a concern.

• Install shower walls over a complete waterproofing system. Porcelain tile and grout do not replace waterproofing.

• Include perimeter and field movement joints according to TCNA EJ171 and applicable construction requirements.

• Wet-cut using a suitable diamond blade and appropriate protection from respirable crystalline-silica dust.

• Order approximately 10–15% additional material for cuts, pattern blending, breakage, and future repairs.
