MSI Rockmount Sunset Silver Panel 6x24

Product Overview

This is the "Industrial Radiance" finish of the collection. While the darker charcoal ledgers provide a heavy, grounded feel, the MSI Rockmount Sunset Silver Panel introduces a luminous, metallic energy to the wall. It is the premier choice for a "Modern Loft" or "Sleek Contemporary" aesthetic, prioritizing a cool-toned, multi-dimensional surface that balances rugged stone texture with a sophisticated silver-grey shimmer.

MSI Rockmount Series: Sunset Silver 6" x 24" Natural Quartzite Ledger Panel

Redefine your vertical surfaces with the cool, crystalline brilliance of the Sunset Silver Ledger Panel. Part of the MSI Rockmount collection, this panel is crafted from high-grade natural quartzite, a stone prized for its incredible durability and subtle, glass-like sparkle. The "Sunset Silver" palette is a sophisticated spectrum of cool greys, icy silvers, and soft pewter tones, featuring a natural mineral "glitter" that catches the light without the need for artificial glazes

Each 6x24 panel is constructed from varying lengths and thicknesses of split-face stone, creating a staggered, high-relief profile that provides deep shadow lines and architectural depth. The staggered interlocking Z-shape design allows for a seamless, grout-free installation, hiding vertical seams and giving the impression of a meticulously hand-stacked stone wall. Whether used for a dramatic fireplace surround or a sleek exterior accent wall, Sunset Silver offers a clean, professional finish that is both rugged and refined.

Recommended Applications

Confirm the current manufacturer approval for the intended floor, wall, shower, pool, exterior, or commercial installation before specifying this product.

Installation & Handling Guidelines

⚠️ CRITICAL: Quartzite is a heavy, dense material. You must use a polymer-modified Large-and-Heavy-Tile (LHT) mortar. Standard thin-sets may not provide the "grab" necessary to hold the weight of the split-face relief, leading to sagging during the curing process.

Manufacturer Recommendations:

• Substrate: Install only over clean, structurally sound surfaces like concrete block, brick, or cement backer board. Do not install directly over drywall in wet areas.

• No Grout Required: These panels are designed for "dry-stack" installation. Do not attempt to grout between the stones, as it will obscure the natural split-face texture.

• Sealing: Use a breathable, penetrating stone sealer. For a "wet look" that darkens the charcoal tones and increases the silver sparkle, use an enhancing sealer.

• The "Bottom-Up" Support: Always install a temporary, level starter strip (like a straight 2x4) at the base of your wall. This ensures your first row is perfectly level and supports the weight of the rows above while the mortar sets.

• Back-Butter for Suction: Apply mortar to both the wall and the back of the panel. This "double-buttering" creates a vacuum-like suction bond that is essential for heavy natural stone.

• Randomize the Boxes: Open 3 or 4 boxes at once and "shuffle" the panels. This ensures the silver highlights and darker grey tones are distributed evenly across the wall, avoiding color "clumping."

Care & Maintenance

Use a cleaner appropriate to the listed material and follow the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. Test any cleaner or sealer on a spare piece first.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Can this be used behind a wood stove? Yes. Quartzite is a natural volcanic-origin stone and is highly heat-resistant, making it an excellent choice for fireplace and stove backings.

• How do I handle corners? Use the matching Sunset Silver Corner Units. These are "L-shaped" pieces that wrap around the corner to maintain the "solid stone block" illusion.

• Is it hard to clean? Because of the rugged texture, we recommend using a vacuum with a brush attachment or canned air to remove dust. For exterior walls, a light pressure wash is usually sufficient.
